My partner is asthmatic and has been struggling with a heavy cold for several weeks and we think now has a chest infection. After two days of attempting to get through on the phone, ringing constantly he was told today that he could not receive help as they no longer make appts over the phone and should go online tomorrow morning to make an appt. when we tried to book online yesterday he was only able to book a contraceptive coil check! He is currently in bed very unwell and I hope he will be ok until we can go online in the morning!

I am currently finding it impossible to book an appointment to see ANY doctor. I don't have telephone connectivity and I'm not allowed to book on line. "There are no appointments available for you to book. Please contact your practice if you wish to book an appointment." I have called in at the surgery personally to make an appointment and was told I couldn't - when the receptionist could finally take the biscuit out of her mouth. So what suggestions do you think would be helpful? By the way, I have a lump in my chest I'd like someone to look at. No chance there then.

It would be helpful if a Dr is running late to be told, perhaps a board with information on or perhaps it could be added to the electronic screen. I feel it helps to be kept informed rather than sitting wondering how late the appointments are running

Getting through to the practice can be difficult, I once spent 30 minutes on phone after having called 38 times however, every time I've called I've either spoken to a doctor for advice or had an appointment and always been satisfied. The doctors I've seen are all very good and they work under such extreme pressures. In particular Dr Muir, my gp really looked after my son about 6 years ago , she phoned every hour to see whether she needed to advise me to go to hospital after having an appointment, this was reassuring and she was very caring. She also cared greatly when I had been ill, which I will never forget. She clearly loves her job and is thorough with her assessment. There's not much I could advise to change about the practice, I feel poplar grove does better than most but there will always be people ready to moan about it....it's a free service provided by our lovely NHS. When it's gone then they'll be moaning because they will be paying for it. We must look after it, look after our doctors, nurses and health professionals for they are trying their hardest to look after you.
